Oil pressure relief valve cup (12H865), fitted at the end of the oil pressure release spring. Lightly grind in for proper seating. One required per Mini.
This bullet-shaped plunger regulates the excess oil pressure returned to the sump. It may become lodged or damaged on the outer diameter and seating surface if debris circulates within the engine. It is crucial to inspect this component during every engine overhaul and replace it if any markings or damage are present. If the plunger sticks open, it can allow excessive oil to drain into the sump, depriving the engine of necessary oil pressure.
