Description
3-piece Borg & Beck Injection Clutch with the larger 190 mm diameter, fitted to all 1990-on and all fuel-injected models. This clutch may also be used on earlier non-injection Verto-type engines only if the flywheel is in perfect, unworn condition. Always check for correct clearance during installation to ensure nothing fouls due to component mismatches.
Buy the best—we’ve tried the rest. Non-injection cars do not require precise clutch trigger alignment to operate correctly; however, injection models must be assembled with the trigger alignment set correctly. Re-use your original center boss to maintain the correct pickup point positions, or replace it with DAM5921 if required.
For best results, the clutch assembly should be rebalanced to the flywheel, as was done in production. The Verto pressure plate is heavier and carries most of the rotating mass, unlike earlier diaphragm-type setups where the flywheel provided the primary mass. This was recognized by Rover as a minor design weakness and was addressed by supplying fully balanced Verto clutch assemblies as service replacements.
